E‑Type Engineering was founded in 1971 by Bill and Jan Walker. The name “E‑Type” comes from Bill’s decision to sell his beloved E‑Type Jaguar to raise the capital needed to purchase the first equipment and establish the business. Over the years, E‑Type Engineering has grown into a trusted leader in the engineering industry, recognised for our technical expertise, innovative solutions, and commitment to excellence. Following a management buyout in 2018, the business entered a new chapter while continuing to uphold the values, standards, and workmanship that have guided us for more than 50 years.
Our extensive experience enables us to successfully deliver projects for both national and international clients. We pride ourselves on our versatility and our ability to withstand the closest scrutiny, offering comprehensive engineering services from initial concept and design through to fabrication and installation of mechanical systems.

Our Quality Manual outlines the framework of our Quality Management System, designed to ensure that customer requirements are consistently identified, controlled, and met. We continue to operate according to the principles and procedures outlined in the manual, which were developed during our time as an ISO 9001 certified company. Although we have allowed the certification to lapse, we remain fully aligned with the ISO 9001 guidelines in our ongoing operations.

The documented systems and procedures reflect our company’s philosophy and quality objectives, ensuring we meet both customer and internal expectations. E-Type Engineering is proud to be a member of the New Zealand Standards Association, the Engineering Trades Association Southland, the Otago Southland Employers Association, and International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ). While we no longer hold an ISO 9001 certification, we continue to operate in accordance with its standards, ensuring that our quality management processes meet the highest expectations.
